$newsid = ''; ?> Camp Fig, the nano-gallery at 305B East 5th, has an interesting show of street artists running through September 11.
Eliks does wheatpasted prints not entirely unlike the stuff we're used to seeing in Austin. Fosik and KGBE make hand-painted signs on found materials and mount them in the urban landscape (here and here are some images from other shows). Their pieces are so striking and so stealable that I don't see how they stay up for more than a minute after the artists turn their backs. Maybe they're sort of like the Yellow Bike Project of art.
I don't have any images from the Camp Fig show but these others give you some idea.
In other art news: is there any gallery in the world cooler than Tin Man Alley in Philadelphia? They handle Ron English, Isabel Samaras, Ray Caesar and so many other practitioners of accessible pop surrealism.
And is there any site that covers Texas art happenings better than Glass Tire? Bookmark their Austin art page.
